Robert Jordan

James Oliver Rigney Jr,  better known by his pen name Robert Jordan, was an American author of epic fantasy. He is best known for the Wheel of Time series and is one of the original writers of Conan the Barbarian. He also wrote under several other pseudonyms for other genres and topics. For historical fiction, he used Reagan O’Neal, for a western, Jackson O’Reilly, for dance criticism, Chang Lung, and he also ghostwrote a science-fiction novel that is still attributed to someone else. He sadly passed away in 2007, leaving the Wheel of Time series unfinished. Brandon Sanderson was asked to complete the story, doing so with its final three novels.

The Eye of the World is the first book in the epic fantasy Wheel of Time series. While it was originally released as adult fiction, it was re-released a decade later for young adults as two separate books, From the Two Rivers and To the Blight, with larger text and some illustrations.

The Wheel of Time turns and Ages come and go, leaving memories that become legend. Legend fades to myth, and even myth is long forgotten when the Age that gave it birth returns again. After their home is attacked by Trollocs and their undead-like commander, Rand, Mat, Perrin, and Egwene flee their village in an attempt to keep it safe. They are accompanied by an Aes Sedai, a woman capable of channelling magic, her Warder, and a gleeman, later being joined by Nynaeve, a girl skilled in channelling healing magics.

The Great Hunt is the second novel in the Wheel of Time series. It was also re-released after a decade as two books, The Hunt Begins and New Threads in the Pattern.

For centuries, gleemen have told of the Great Hunt of the Horn. Now the Horn itself is found: the Horn of Valere long thought only legend, the Horn which will raise the dead heroes of the ages. And it is stolen. Following the events of the last book, Rand is visited by a powerful and important Aes Sedai, who tells him that he is the Dragon Reborn, while Mat forms a psychic link with a parasitic dagger and his illness worsens.
